Shaun leads his friends every day including Bitzer, every day he herds his flock of friends into hilarious new calamities down on Mossy Bottom Farm. From misbehaving moles to a dysfunctional boomerang and humorous hedgehogs to a raddled Rock Star, Shaun leads the laughs. Meanwhile the Farmer is blissfully ignorant, and Bitzer works doggedly to keep it that way. But it’s not easy when Toddler Timmy, Big Shirley, Hazel, Nuts and the gang act like sheep and follow their mischievous leader.
Shaun is the leader of the flock and is the hero of the show. He is smart, resourceful, as well as being mischievous and his lively personality marks him out from the rest of the flock. His maverick nature is forever leading him into tricky situations but despite his recklessness, he has an inherent sense of responsibility and will try to make amends for the chaos he causes.
Bitzer is the Farmer’s faithful sheepdog and also good friend to Shaun. His job is to manage the flock for the Farmer whilst also joining in with the fun and adventures, as long as the Farmer never finds out. He has a tolerant attitude to the sheep’s antics, but is ready to step in if things get seriously out of hand.
The Farmer is entirely oblivious to the antics of his flock. He goes about his business with a dogged dependability, expressing little emotion except the occasional burst of frustration when things go wrong, or an air of bemusement at the result of some of Shaun’s antics. Like all human characters in the show, we see him from the animals’ point of view and his speech comes across as a series of grunts and mumbles.
Timmy is the toddler in the flock. He is an adorable character, usually portrayed with his yellow dummy in his mouth and carrying an orange teddy bear. Not quite as innocent as he looks he has an alarming propensity for getting into dangerous situations.Timmy’s mum is often close by and can be identified by the rollers in her hair.
